Das CD-Radio JVC RV-NB51W wird nicht ohne Grund als „Boomblaster“ bezeichnet: Der Hersteller hat gleich zwei 13 Zentimeter-Chassis verbaut, damit neben der Hoch- und Mittel- vor allem die Tieftonwiedergabe stimmt.
Die beiden Chassis werden mit jeweils 15 Watt belastet. Außerdem sind zwei acht Zentimeter große Breitband-Lautsprecher an Bord, die es auf eine Ausgangsleistung von insgesamt zehn Watt bringen. In Sachen Sound setzt JVC ferner auf einen anpassbaren Bass-Pegel (Super Woofer) und auf einen Equalizer mit vier vordefinierten Einstellungen (Flat, Beat, Pop und Clear). Der Boomblaster hält 30 Stationsspeicher für den UKW- beziehungsweise MW-Empfang bereit, spielt Audio-, MP3- und WMA-CDs und ist obendrein mit einer Dockingstation für den iPod ausgerüstet, wobei der Apple-Player sicher geschützt hinter einer Frontklappe platziert wird. Hängt das Gerät an der Steckdose – der RV-NB51W lässt sich wahlweise mit einem Netzteil oder mit zehn D-Batterien betreiben – dann werden die Akkus von iPod, iPod Nano, iPod Photo, iPod Video und iPod Touch automatisch mit neuer Energie versorgt. Abgerundet wird die Anschlussleiste von einer USB-Schnittstelle. Hier kann man Speichersticks und andere Flash-Speicher andocken, um MP3-Dateien abzuspielen. Der9 Boomblaster ist knapp 67 Zentimeter breit, 23 Zentimeter hoch, 24 Zentimeter tief und bringt satte 6,8 Kilogramm auf die Waage – ohne Batterien.
