The NDH 20 is a serious studio-grade closed-back and €300 looks like a strong buy against your recent comp set. With a median at €536 and a 25th percentile at €335, this sits below the lower quartile, so it reads as a bargain rather than just a fair deal.
That’s especially appealing here because the NDH 20 is well regarded for clean detail, solid isolation, and very controlled bass, making it useful both for critical listening and practical monitoring. A good-condition pair at this level is worth jumping on if the pads, headband, and cable are intact; original accessories only add to the upside.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Neumann traces its origins to Berlin, Germany, where Georg Neumann and Erich Rickmann founded the company in 1928. Initially focused on pioneering condenser microphones, such as the groundbreaking CMV 3—nicknamed "The Bottle"—Neumann quickly established itself as an innovator amid the early days of professional audio. Despite wartime disruptions that split production and led to the creation of Microtech Gefell, Georg Neumann rebuilt in post-war Berlin, launching the iconic U 47 tube-condenser microphone, which solidified the brand's legacy in recording history.
The brand specializes in professional recording equipment, renowned for its high-end condenser microphones like the U 47, U 67, and U 87, which dominate studios worldwide. Beyond mics, Neumann produces studio monitors, headphones, preamplifiers, audio interfaces such as the recent MT 48, and historically excelled in cutting lathes for mastering. This pro-audio emphasis sets it apart from consumer hi-fi categories like amplifiers, turntables, or cables.
Neumann commands an elite position in the market as the gold standard for professional recording, embodying precision engineering and unmatched fidelity prized by engineers and producers. Its products grace legendary sessions, blending vintage reverence with modern reliability, making it essential for discerning hi-fi enthusiasts seeking studio-grade accuracy rather than mid-tier or boutique consumer gear.
