Seller's Description

ALR Jordan Entry 5m Floorstanding Loudspeakers Back in August 2000, I set about replacing my Father's old 1970's HiFi with entirely new gear, having made a few dollars since joining the workforce a few months earlier.. Sadly, when I moved out - this gear was seldom used.  So, despite being 25 years old, it's had very little use for the past two decades, and remains in relatively good condition for its age..   These speakers were designed in the UK and made in Germany. I'll also throw in a UK-made, 3.4 metre pair of QED Qudos cable.  At just under a metre tall, they should fit in the boot of a

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Good condition at A$249 lands right on the money: with recent comps centered at A$250 and a 25th percentile of A$235, this is a fair, market-aligned ask rather than a bargain or an ask that’s asking too much. If you like these, the price is reasonable enough to move on without feeling rushed.

ALR/Jordan’s floorstanders have a good reputation for lively, engaging sound with solid scale and bass for the money, so a clean pair can be a lot of speaker for A$249. For a well-kept set, I’d mainly check the foam/surrounds, tweeter output, and that both cabinets are cosmetically matched; if those are all in order, this looks like a sensible buy.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About ALR/Jordan

ALR Jordan, a German hi-fi brand rooted in Essen, traces its origins to 1984 when Thomas Klaus and Klaus Gruber founded ART, a venture dedicated to acoustic research and high-quality loudspeaker development. In 1989, Karl-Heinz Fink, a renowned European speaker designer and architect of crossover networks, joined the company, prompting its rebranding to ALR. Fink's expertise drew from E.J. Jordan's pioneering metal cone technology, seen in classics like the Goodmans Axiom 80, infusing ALR's designs with innovative driver engineering.

The brand specializes in loudspeakers, crafting both complete systems and premium chassis renowned for their aluminum cone woofers sourced from Northern European manufacturers. Models like the Entry series, Number 4, Take 5, and bookshelf designs such as the 2M emphasize handcrafted cabinets, robust builds—often exceeding 25kg per speaker—and wide frequency responses, from 50Hz to 23kHz in some cases. This focus on driver innovation and enclosure perfection positions ALR Jordan as a driver-centric specialist rather than a broad-line producer.

ALR Jordan holds a niche boutique reputation among knowledgeable enthusiasts for delivering high-end performance in compact, system-compatible formats, often praised in vintage and DIY circles for their precision and value. Though the original ALR Acoustics entity liquidated in 2013, the Jordan legacy endures through handcrafted "VIP line" speakers, appealing to collectors and audiophiles seeking German engineering excellence without mainstream hype.
