Seller's Description

Monitor Audio Silver 500 Floorstanding Loudspeakers Monitor Audio Silver 500 speakers   These are the top of the Monitor Audio Silver (6th generation 2021) range. Fantastic  sound, rated best in their class - read the reviews online.   250W rating with frequency response 30Hz to 35kHz. Significantly better bass extension than the smaller models such as the 200, so you don't need to add a subwoofer.   Selling as I have moved into a smaller space and these these are more than I need. You are welcome to come and listen to them in Frankston, or I can deliver between Mornington and Melbourne.   Ver

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Should you pay A$2,400 for this? On your own comp set, that’s well above the A$571 75th percentile and roughly the median A$491, so this asking price reads as ambitious at best and hard to justify on a normal used-market basis.

What makes it interesting is the product itself: a Monitor Audio subwoofer should be a solid, music-friendly piece if it’s the right model and it’s functioning properly, with the usual appeal of tight, controlled bass and a sensible fit in a serious two-channel or home-theatre setup. At this level, though, I’d want confirmation of exact variant, driver health, amplifier condition, and any original accessories before even thinking about value.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Monitor Audio

Monitor Audio, a British hi-fi mainstay, traces its origins to 1972 when founder Mo Iqbal established the company in a modest factory near Cambridge, England. Starting with hands-on loudspeaker assembly in a garage-like setting, it quickly professionalized, moving to Rayleigh, Essex, in 1976 for in-house manufacturing. This heritage of meticulous British engineering has endured through expansions, including a 2004 shift of production to China while retaining design leadership in Essex, alongside strategic acquisitions like Roksan in 2016 and Blok in 2019.

The brand excels in loudspeakers across diverse categories, from high-fidelity two-channel stereo models to advanced home cinema systems, architectural installations, outdoor speakers, and lifestyle solutions. Signature innovations like the patented C-CAM Gold Dome tweeters, introduced in the 1980s and continually refined, define its sound. Complementing these are amplifiers, streamers, and integrated audio systems, reflecting a broad portfolio that prioritizes proprietary driver technologies and precise enclosure design over peripheral gear like turntables or headphones.

Positioned as a mid-to-high-end powerhouse, Monitor Audio commands respect for delivering audiophile-grade performance at accessible price points, blending relentless innovation with timeless British craftsmanship. Over five decades, it has solidified its status as a global juggernaut, appealing to discerning buyers seeking refined, dynamic sound without boutique exclusivity or vintage nostalgia.
