Seller's Description

Here's your chance to add a little reverberation to your life (ha!) with a classic Pioneer duo from the silver-face era.Back in the 70s and early 80s, it seemed every major hi-fi manufacturer offered a reverberation amplifier, and many enthusiasts considered one an essential part of a serious stereo system. Whether recreating the ambience of a concert hall or simply enjoying the ability to tweak your sound, the SR-303 was very much a product of its time. Paired with the RG-2 Dynamic Processor, this combination represents the era when audio companies weren't afraid to give listeners every conceivable knob, switch, and adjustment to personalize the listening experience. Today, they stand as wonderfully nostalgic - and increasingly collectible; examples of the creativity that defined the golden age of hi-fi.Offered together are a Pioneer RG-2 Dynamic Processor and a Pioneer SR-303 Reverberation Amplifier, both in SUPERB cosmetic and fully functional condition. Produced between 1980 and 1982, these units have spent the last several decades together, and that's how they should stay, so they're being sold as a matching pair. In my opinion, with components like these, it's both or neither. Do you need it to listen to your tape treasure trove? Well, no. But - do you want it to complement your silver-face Pioneer stack? ABSOLUTELY. Cosmetically, both units are exceptionally clean. The RG-2 has just one tiny blemish - just a pinpoint mark about the size of a needle head below the power button (shown in the photos). The SR-303's case has a previous owner's Social Security number engraved into it (see the photo). This was a fairly common way of marking valuables back when identity theft wasn't yet a thing. Consider it a quirky reminder of another era. Both units have been thoroughly tested and perform exactly as they should.See the video where they are paired to a Pioneer CT-F 1250, also for sale.https://reverb.com/item/95001117-pioneer-ct-f-1250-excellent-condition-refurbished-240-fully-functioning-monster-with-extra-tapes________________________________________________________________________________________________Perhaps you can find it listed elsewhere for less (and I have seen them go for MORE) - but, in my case, you would be getting a thoroughly checked-out and refreshed unit with no stories.See the feedback; I don't buy items to flip - it's not a source of income for me (especially when you consider the Reverb fees), no matter what IRS would like to think. These are "rescues", something I enjoy doing as a hobby. Considering that parts units sell for 250 clams, this is a solid investment at a good buy-in, if you ask me... I don't sell trash that can be found on other sites. It will go out well packed and fully insured - through Reverb Safe Shipping (their coverage and customer service is quite good - given the weight, it's not cheap but is WELL WORTH the surety it brings). I have shipped aplenty (and had many shipped to me - so I know what NOT to do). So - this is going to be a sizeable package when all is said and done - I am not making money on shipping.A standard disclaimer: While the unit is fully operational to the best of my knowledge, it is being sold "as-described" because some folks here and on other platforms harbor peculiar misapprehensions about how a 40-50 year old piece of vintage electronics should look and function.

About Pioneer

Pioneer traces its roots to 1937 in Tokyo, Japan, when founder Nozomu Matsumoto, inspired by the thrill of imported hi-fi speakers, developed the A-8 dynamic speaker and launched a radio and speaker repair shop. The business formalized as Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho in 1938, evolving into Pioneer Corporation and embodying Matsumoto's philosophy of "Move the Heart and Touch the Soul" through audio innovation.

The brand excels across diverse hi-fi categories, pioneering Japan's first headphones in 1960 with the SE-1 and the world's first component-based stereo system in 1965 via the PSC-5A. Pioneer's portfolio spans amplifiers, speakers, turntables, and DACs, alongside landmark car audio advancements like the 1975 Supertuner-equipped stereo and the 1986 in-car CD player, blending home and automotive excellence.

Today, Pioneer holds a commanding mid-to-high-tier position in the market, revered for reliable, performance-driven gear that balances premium quality with accessibility. Its vintage components attract collectors, while current offerings appeal to discerning buyers seeking robust, innovative sound reproduction without boutique excess.
