Seller's Description

Just purchased this unit in April of 2026, so it’s essentially new. Due to changes in my system configuration, I no longer need the unit. If you have two devices with RCA outputs, this unit allows for connecting both devices and switching between them with a simple push button. Also has a built-in volume control should you need to use it. Otherwise, just turn volume knob to full to eliminate the volume control. This is very helpful if you have two different RCA sources that are not putting out equal volume; and also prevents having to unplug RCA cables between devices when using two devices. The unit RCA output then plugs into you amp or preamp. No electric connection required for the unit…

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At US$30, this Schiit SYS is a genuine bargain, sitting well below the 25th percentile of US$48 for used listings in the market. Based on the ground truth median of US$50 and the 75th percentile of US$61, you are securing this passive preamp for significantly less than typical asking prices, making it a strong deal for any enthusiast.

The Schiit SYS is well-regarded for its simplicity and reliability as a bare-bones passive switcher with volume control, perfect for routing between headphones and speakers or adding volume to a DAC without a rotary knob. It does what it promises with no electronics, no power, and zero distortion, offering a clean, durable solution for desktop audio setups. At this price, especially if the unit is original-owner or includes cables, it is a clear buying opportunity rather than a risky purchase.

About Schiit Audio

Schiit Audio: Brand Overview

Schiit Audio is an American audio company founded in June 2010 by Jason Stoddard and Mike Moffat, two veteran engineers with deep roots in the high-fidelity industry. Based in California with manufacturing operations in Texas, the company emerged from a shared vision between its founders—who had reconnected after years in separate audio ventures—to democratize desktop hi-fi. The name itself, deliberately provocative, reflects Stoddard's irreverent approach to a traditionally buttoned-up market, born from his wife's exasperated suggestion during late-night garage sessions.

The company specializes in personal audio components, with a product portfolio spanning digital-to-analog converters (DACs), headphone amplifiers, preamplifiers, and integrated amplifier-DAC combinations. Schiit's first product, the Asgard headphone amplifier, launched in 2010, followed by the Bifrost DAC in 2011. The lineup ranges from entry-level pieces starting around $99 to premium offerings exceeding $2,000, with the company positioning itself as a leader in direct-to-consumer audio sales.

Schiit occupies a distinctive position as an accessible yet credible player in the audiophile market. Rather than pursuing ultra-premium positioning, the company has built its reputation on delivering genuine sonic performance at consumer-friendly prices—a philosophy its founders describe as trying to "out-cheap" each other. This strategy has resonated strongly; the company has grown substantially since inception, operating from a dedicated 15,000-square-foot facility and maintaining a reputation for transparency, quality engineering, and genuine engagement with the audio enthusiast community.
