Seller's Description

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This listing for Leak Sandwich 600 speakers at SEK 1,900 is a genuine bargain, sitting well below the typical used market range of SEK 2,500 to SEK 3,500 for this vintage model. While the generation is from the classic 1970s era and has been replaced by modern designs, the price here is so low—likely under the 25th percentile—that it represents a strong buying opportunity for anyone seeking these iconic loudspeakers.

The Sandwich 600 is highly regarded as a 3-way, sealed-box design that offers tight, controlled bass despite its low efficiency and somewhat lifeless midrange. These speakers are often considered underrated classics, and finding them in original condition with intact grill cloth is a meaningful upside for collectors. At this price, even if the cross-over capacitors need replacement, the financial risk is minimal, making this a worthwhile buy for enthusiasts who value vintage character over modern dynamics.

About LEAK Stereo

Founded in 1934 by Harold Joseph Leak in London, England, LEAK emerged as a pioneering force in British hi-fi, initially crafting public address systems and cinema amplifiers before pivoting to high-fidelity home audio amid post-war innovation. With engineer Ted Ashley's contributions, the brand rode the 1950s hi-fi boom, producing landmark valve amplifiers like the TL/12 series, which set benchmarks for low distortion and performance, establishing LEAK as a global leader in affordable excellence.

LEAK specialized in integrated amplifiers, such as the iconic Stereo 20, Stereo 30, and Stereo 50, alongside innovative loudspeakers featuring the patented "Sandwich" foam-core drivers for precise bass and clarity. The lineup extended to radio tuners, pickups, tonearms, and turntables, blending valve warmth with emerging transistor tech to dominate the stereo era.

Acquired by the Rank Organisation in 1969 and dormant by the late 1970s amid Japanese competition, LEAK's revival under the IAG Group since 2020 honors its heritage with modern classics like the Stereo 130 and 230 integrated amplifiers, plus CD transports and streamers. Revered by vintage collectors for cult models like the Stereo 30, it holds mid-tier prestige today—delivering high-end British sound at accessible prices for discerning buyers seeking timeless refinement.
