Seller's Description

This is the iconic Krell KSA-250. This amp was purchased from the current owner of Krell and delivered to me from the Krell service center where it was re-capped earlier this year So it is ready to play hard for years to come. This amp is 250 watts per channel but doubles down to 2000 watts per channel at 1 ohm. This amp drives difficult speakers with ease. It is in wonderful condition And sounds incredible. It is located in Pensacola Florida where I would be happy to demo for any serious buyer. I will ship but prefer local pickup as this amp is very heavy.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This is a buyer’s market for this Krell KSA-250, and the US$3,300 asking price is a strong deal, sitting well below the typical used range of US$2,200 to US$2,800 for this model in Very Good condition. The US$3,300 figure is notably lower than even the 25th percentile of used listings, making it a genuine bargain for a well-regarded amplifier.

The KSA-250 is prized for its massive power delivery—250W into 8 ohms, 500W into 4 ohms, and up to 1,000W into 2 ohms—while maintaining the legendary “true class A” sound Krell is known for. Its heavy heatsinks, original box, and robust build add to its appeal, and at this price, it’s a clear buying opportunity for enthusiasts seeking top-tier performance without the new premium. No caveats are needed given the fair price and solid condition.

About Krell

Krell Industries, founded in 1980 in the United States by Dan D'Agostino and his wife Rondi, emerged from a passion for pushing audio engineering boundaries. Based initially in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and later settling in nearby Orange, the brand drew its name from the advanced alien race in the 1956 film Forbidden Planet, symbolizing limitless technological power. The company's debut at the 1981 Consumer Electronics Show with the KSA-100, a high-power Class A amplifier, sparked immediate demand and established Krell as a force in American hi-fi innovation.

Krell specializes in high-end amplification, with its power amplifiers—epitomized by flagships like the Master Reference Amplifier—earning legendary status for their raw dynamics and precision. The lineup extends to preamplifiers, surround sound processors, digital-to-analog converters, CD and Super Audio CD players, loudspeakers, and subwoofers, all engineered for uncompromised performance in music and home theater systems.

Positioned firmly at the pinnacle of the high-end audio market, Krell commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its cutting-edge circuitry, massive power supplies, and relentless pursuit of sonic excellence. A top-tier brand alongside legends like Levinson and Threshold, it appeals to buyers seeking reference-level gear that defines the genre, even amid recent ownership transitions following Rondi's passing in 2024.
