Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At A$2,995, this is right in the territory of current new-box pricing for the Gravis III, so as a used buy it reads as ambitious rather than fair unless condition and extras are exceptional. For a standard second-hand unit, I’d want to see some room below that to make the value proposition compelling.

That said, the Gravis III is a genuinely refined sub: sealed design, 10-inch driver, and serious class-AB power, so it’s more about speed, control, and integration than boom. It’s a strong match for high-end two-channel or home theatre systems, especially if it comes with the app control, original packaging, and a clean cosmetic history. If the seller can show it’s lightly used and fully complete, it’s still a desirable piece — just not priced like a used bargain.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Sonus faber

Sonus faber was founded in 1983 by Franco Serblin in Vicenza, Italy, emerging from a singular vision to create loudspeakers of superior musical quality using natural materials and refined design. The company's name, Latin for "handcrafted sound," encapsulates its foundational philosophy. Serblin's early work—including the iconic Snail prototype inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's sketches—established the brand's commitment to marrying acoustic performance with sculptural aesthetics. The company's Italian heritage remains central to its identity, with production continuing in Vicenza for over four decades.

Sonus faber specializes exclusively in loudspeakers, a focused approach that has defined its market position. The brand is renowned for handcrafted wooden cabinets, violin-inspired industrial design, and signature model lines including the Guarneri Homage, Amati, Stradivari, and Aida. Early designs featured Kevlar woofers and silk-dome tweeters, though solid-wood construction became the defining material signature. Each speaker is treated as a musical instrument rather than mere audio equipment, reflecting the company's artisanal manufacturing ethos.

Sonus faber occupies the premium high-end segment of the audio market, commanding respect among discerning audiophiles and collectors worldwide. The brand's reputation rests on uncompromising craftsmanship, luxury materials, and the integration of traditional Italian design principles with contemporary audio technology. Its positioning appeals to listeners who view speakers as both functional components and interior design statements—a niche that has sustained the company's prestige and premium pricing across its four-decade history.
