This is a seller’s market for vintage Denon CD players, but A$350 for a DCD-1500 looks fair to slightly strong rather than cheap. Recent used examples of the 1500-series have tended to land around the low-A$300s, with cleaner or more complete units pushing higher, so this isn’t a bargain-bin price — but it’s not out of line if the player is fully working and cosmetically decent.
The appeal here is real: the DCD-1500 is a well-built, highly regarded late-’80s/early-’90s Denon with a solid transport, good DAC section for its era, and a mature, weighty sound that still wins fans. If it’s original and untouched, the upside is in finding one that still reads discs quickly, tracks cleanly, and comes with the remote; those details matter more than small scuffs on a player this old. I’d just want confirmation that it loads reliably and hasn’t been “fixed” with a rough repair.
