Seller's Description

Up for sale is my PRO-JECT Tube Box S2 with Upgraded PSVANE tubes (about $50/pair) and the all-important PRO-JECT Power Box S3 Phono Outboard Power Supply. Also, as a bonus, I'll also include a Pro-Ject Connect It E Phono Cable, which sells for $69.00.This setup sounds incredible, especially for the money! The retail price for both Pro-Ject units and the tubes is $867.00. But... you can buy my setup for a fraction of that cost. I won't separate as they work wonderfully in concert. The Tube Box is mint with no blems and there is only 1 very, very tiny blem on the Power Supply at the top of the faceplate just above the word "Output" and this is not visible when they're stacked as they are in the photos. I have 3 phono preamps so this one gets occasional use only. These Pro-Ject pieces have been displayed in a non-smoking, incense free, child free, pet free and cologne and perfume free home and are guaranteed to be free of any greasy fingerprints, strange odors or any other funk! This sale includes the original box/packing for the Tube Box only and no owner's manual for either - a new, clear copy of both manuals for the new owner will be printed. Also included is both respective Wall-Wart power supplies (the Tube Box Wall Wart would not be used), the DC Cable for connection from the PS to the phono preamp and the Connect It E turntable phono cable - check out the last photo.Read my stellar feedback and purchase with complete confidence as my feedback speaks for itself. This combo is listed elsewhere and subject to prior sale and I expect it to sell quickly! It will ship via USPS for a flat fee of $29 to anywhere in the CON USA within 1 day of cleared payment.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This Pro-Ject Tube Box S2 is a compact, well-regarded tube phono preamp that brings genuine warmth and detail to both MM and MC cartridges, but the US$549 asking price is ambitious compared to the typical used market. Based on eight recent USD listings, the median sits at US$335, with the 75th percentile at US$400; this listing exceeds that top quartile by nearly US$150, making it a poor value unless the condition is pristine and fully accessorized.

The unit earns its reputation for delivering warm, engaging sound with precise RIAA equalization and versatile impedance/capacitance adjustments, making it a strong upgrade over built-in turntable preamps. It uses two ECC83 tubes and offers a fully discrete circuit without OpAmps, which enthusiasts appreciate for its musicality. However, at US$549, buyers should verify the tubes are original or high-quality replacements, confirm the 18V power supply is included, and ensure no dip-switches are stuck, since the price demands near-perfect condition and full completeness to justify the premium.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Pro-Ject

Pro-Ject Audio Systems traces its roots to 1991 in Austria's Weinviertel region, north of Vienna, where founder Heinz Lichtenegger launched the brand amid the CD revolution. Kicked out of music school as a youth, Lichtenegger channeled his passion for analog sound into affordable, high-quality turntables at a time when vinyl seemed obsolete. His debut Pro-Ject 1, hand-assembled in the Czech Republic, earned rave reviews as a top high-end device, igniting a success story that relocated headquarters to Vienna before returning to Mistelbach in Lower Austria.

The brand excels in turntables, establishing itself as the world's largest and leading producer in that category, while expanding into a full spectrum of hi-fi components since 2000. Offerings include amplifiers, DACs, headphone amps, speakers, cables, and phono stages, all emphasizing essential sound reproduction with durable materials and minimalist design. Manufacturing remains European—primarily in Czechia, Slovakia, and Germany—prioritizing sustainability through local sourcing, short transport, and products built for longevity.

Pro-Ject holds a commanding niche as the go-to for mid-tier audiophiles seeking boutique European craftsmanship without extravagant pricing. Distributed in over 80 countries, it appeals to vinyl revivalists and discerning buyers who value analog purity, innovation, and value-driven performance over flashy excess, cementing its reputation as a pioneer in accessible high-fidelity.
