Against the recent AUD comparables, A$1,100 sits above the 75th percentile and is clearly ambitious for a used amp like this. With a median at A$900 and the top quartile at A$1,000, this asking price only makes sense if the seller can substantiate truly exceptional cosmetic and functional condition, fresh servicing, or unusually complete provenance.
That said, the RB-991 is a respected big Rotel power amp: strong current delivery, solid grip on speakers, and a lively, no-nonsense presentation that suits many systems. If it’s genuinely excellent and hasn’t been abused, it’s the kind of amp that can still punch well above many newer mid-priced options. For the money, though, I’d want to see proof of careful ownership and a clean service history before stretching to A$1,100.
