Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This €70 parts listing is a strong deal compared to the typical used market for a functional Apple HomePod, which recently shows a median asking price of €77 (25th percentile €72, 75th percentile €89) based on seven comparable EUR listings. Since the price sits below the 25th percentile, it represents a genuine bargain for an enthusiast willing to repair or repurpose the unit.

The original HomePod remains well-regarded for its high-fidelity sound and seamless Apple ecosystem integration, offering a surprising amount of audio depth from a compact form. Even as a parts unit, it holds value for buyers seeking a replacement shell, internal components, or a project speaker, especially given the original model’s rising resale interest and scarcity in the current market.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Apple

Apple Inc. traces its origins to April 1, 1976, when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, along with Ronald Wayne, founded the company in the Jobs family garage in Cupertino, California. What began as a modest venture to build personal computers evolved into a tech powerhouse, with early forays into audio via the 2001 launch of iTunes and the iconic iPod portable music player.

In the hi-fi realm, Apple focuses on integrated consumer audio solutions rather than traditional separates like amplifiers, turntables, or DACs. The company is renowned for wireless speakers such as the short-lived iPod Hi-Fi (2006-2007) and the more advanced HomePod series, alongside premium headphones including AirPods and AirPods Max. These products emphasize seamless ecosystem integration, portability, and digital streaming over analog purism.

Apple holds a dominant position in the premium consumer audio market, blending high-end aspirations with mass-market accessibility. While not a staple among traditional hi-fi purists—who often critique its closed ecosystem and past efforts like the iPod Hi-Fi as underwhelming—its products command loyalty for sonic refinement, computational audio processing, and design excellence, positioning it as a mid-to-high-tier contender for savvy buyers prioritizing convenience over boutique esoterica.
