This is a buyer’s market for the DR17 right now, and €179 looks like a strong buy if the unit is fully functional. Recent used listings I found cluster roughly around €290 to €750, with several examples around the €450 to €555 mark, so €179 sits well below the usual asking band and should feel comfortably cheap rather than ambitious.
The DR17 is well-regarded as a serious Marantz CD recorder/player: solid build, good analog stage, and the kind of smooth, weighty presentation people buy these older Marantz machines for. At this price, the real upside is getting a clean, original unit with the remote and a disc tray that loads reliably; if those basics are good, it’s a very worthwhile pickup.
