- Granitplatte: Nero Assoluto geschliffen, neuerwertig!, 65 x 95 cm, 3 cm Stärke (Neupreis ca. 280 EUR)

This is a seller’s market for specialist solid-wood hi-fi furniture, but €1,990 is ambitious rather than a bargain. Four recent comparable listings put the median at €529, with the upper quartile at €907; this asking price is more than twice that upper benchmark. Unless it is an unusually large, custom-built, or exceptionally rare piece, the valuation looks difficult to justify.
The appeal is understandable: a heavy oak rack can provide a stable, attractive platform for a substantial Basis turntable, while good mass and isolation help limit vibration and resonance—particularly relevant to Basis designs, which are built around precise, low-noise analogue playback. Before considering it, verify exact dimensions, shelf loading, construction, isolation hardware, and whether original feet or accessories are included. At this level, substantial documentation or truly exceptional condition would be needed; otherwise, negotiation toward the €900–€1,100 range makes more sense.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Basis Audio emerged from the passion of founder A.J. Conti, a brilliant analog engineer whose hobby evolved into a full-time pursuit in the mid-1980s. Starting with the Debut model shortly after founding the company in the United States, Conti left his day job within a year to dedicate himself to revolutionizing vinyl playback through meticulous engineering and a zealous commitment to analog design.
The brand focuses exclusively on high-end turntables, renowned for innovations like fluid-damped suspensions, vacuum platters, and precision drive systems. Models such as the Debut series, Inspiration, and flagship Work of Art—unveiled at the 2004 Winter CES—represent pinnacles of record playback, blending scientific measurement with artistic refinement to deliver unmatched sonic performance.
Basis Audio commands a niche position at the apex of the high-end analog market, cherished by discerning audiophiles for rock-solid stability, exceptional detail, and transformative musicality. Over three decades, its designs have set gold standards, earning acclaim from outlets like The Absolute Sound and Stereophile as among the finest turntables ever produced.
