📌LAB POINTS

entry-level turntable with Bluetooth, pitch control and aluminum tonearm

J-shaped aluminum tonearm w/ Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge
built-in preamp: plug + play with most audio systems
Bluetooth 5.3 output for connecting wirelessly to speakers or headphones
semi-automatic operation: motor stops at the end of the side
newly re-designed Gen 2 model w/ increased mass, speed-sensor-controlled motor system, adjustable anti-skate + counterweight

+/- 10% pitch control knob
dustcover included

"The OBI3 is a strong entry-level competitor to the AT-LP60X. It comes standard with higher priced features including an aluminum tonearm, MDF wood body, weighted aluminum platter and Bluetooth output. The OBI3 notably features pitch control (speed control), a rarity in this price range. The Gen 2 model adds adjustable anti-skate and counterweight for increased control over tonearm operation, as well as an improved speed sensor-controlled motor system. We got to test out an early OBI3 demo, and what really struck us was its weight. At 12.1 lbs, the OBI3 Gen 2 feels solid and the extra mass will do well in lessening vibrations (for comparison, the AT-LP60x weighs 5.7 lbs)." - TTL

About Kanto Audio

Kanto Audio, a Canadian brand founded in January 2007 in Langley, British Columbia, emerged from a vision to craft stylish, high-quality audio products at accessible prices. While specific founders beyond the company's early team remain less documented, the outfit quickly established itself as a solutions-oriented player in the hi-fi space, prioritizing intuitive design for modern lifestyles.

The brand specializes in powered desktop and bookshelf speakers, sealed subwoofers, and purpose-built speaker stands, often available in vibrant finishes like black, white, and green. Recently, Kanto expanded into turntables with the Obi3—a belt-drive model featuring Bluetooth 5.3, a built-in phono preamp, and an Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge—marking its first foray beyond amplification and enclosures.

Positioned as a mid-tier budget contender, Kanto earns praise for delivering strong performance, eye-catching aesthetics, and exceptional value, appealing to discerning buyers seeking reliable hi-fi without premium markups. It occupies a practical niche in the powered speaker market, blending everyday usability with audiophile-worthy sound.
