Against that backdrop, it needs to justify itself with unusually strong condition, provenance, or extras; otherwise it’s priced at the top end of the current used market.
That said, the MP-1100 is a serious phono stage: McIntosh’s tubed, dual-mono approach is valued for a big, quiet, highly resolving presentation with plenty of flexibility for both MM and MC cartridges. If this one is genuinely clean, well cared for, and complete, the appeal is real—but at this price I’d want original packaging, documented service history, and confirmation that all accessories and tubes are in good order before moving.
