Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This is a buyer's market for the Penon 10th Anniversary, and the A$430 asking price is fair, sitting right at the median of typical used listings which range from A$430 to A$480. While a mint-condition set with extra Hakugei cable recently sold for A$300, the current A$430 price reflects a standard, honest market value rather than a bargain, given the original retail was A$799.

The Penon 10th Anniversary is a highly regarded tri-brid IEM celebrated for its bass-impactful, warm, and cohesive sound that excels across every genre. Its 2 dynamic drivers, 2 balanced armatures, and 2 electrostatics deliver a lush, holographic presentation with exceptional decay in the ultra-highs. As a special 2023 release now out of stock, buying this well-loved model at a fair price is a genuine opportunity to own a high-value, original-owner quality IEM without the wait or new scarcity markup. The clean listing and included accessories make it a smart buy for enthusiasts seeking top-tier musicality under A$500.

About Spatial

Spatial Audio Lab emerged from the vision of Clayton Shaw, an innovative designer in the high-end audiophile world, who founded the company in the United States with a focus on American-made excellence. Though exact founding details remain somewhat obscure in public records, Shaw's leadership established its heritage in crafting speakers that prioritize holographic imaging and lifelike soundstaging, drawing from decades of expertise in transducer design and enclosure innovation. In 2023, health challenges prompted Shaw to sell the assets to former employee Sam Whitt and his father David Whitt, ensuring continuity while Shaw stayed on as head of sales.

The brand centers on premium loudspeakers, with renowned models like the X4 and the more accessible Q6 exemplifying their open-baffle dipole philosophy for expansive, three-dimensional sound reproduction. Spatial has expanded into tube amplifiers, designed by luminaries Lynn Olson and Don Sachs, complementing their speaker lineup with warm, dynamic amplification tailored for discerning setups. This selective range avoids dilution into cables, DACs, or headphones, emphasizing core components that deliver uncompromised musicality.

Positioned firmly in the high-end niche boutique market, Spatial Audio Lab commands respect among audiophiles for its no-compromise pursuit of performance, simplicity, and value. Praised for superior imaging and emotional engagement, it appeals to buyers seeking alternatives to conventional box speakers, backed by a legacy of innovation that endures post-ownership change. For those prioritizing immersive, fatigue-free listening, Spatial represents a refined choice in the upper echelons of hi-fi.
