Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At A$1,700, this Sonus Faber Sonetto Wall listing is a strong bargain, sitting well below the typical used median of roughly A$1,800 and the original owner’s A$4,000 RRP. The asking price is near the 25th percentile for this model in AUD, making it an excellent deal for fellow enthusiasts seeking high-value on-wall performance without the premium markup.

These speakers are well-regarded for their compact 2-way design that delivers rich, full-bodied sound ideal for space-conscious two-channel systems, featuring a custom cellulose pulp cone driver and passive radiator for deep bass extension. Their neo-magnet system and dome diaphragm ensure crisp, detailed highs, while the sleek 20×12×7-inch form factor blends neatly into modern interiors. With the listing in excellent condition and no noted accessories missing, this is a timely buying opportunity for those valuing Sonus Faber’s craftsmanship at a fair, entry-level price.

About Sonus faber

Sonus faber was founded in 1983 by Franco Serblin in Vicenza, Italy, emerging from a singular vision to create loudspeakers of superior musical quality using natural materials and refined design. The company's name, Latin for "handcrafted sound," encapsulates its foundational philosophy. Serblin's early work—including the iconic Snail prototype inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's sketches—established the brand's commitment to marrying acoustic performance with sculptural aesthetics. The company's Italian heritage remains central to its identity, with production continuing in Vicenza for over four decades.

Sonus faber specializes exclusively in loudspeakers, a focused approach that has defined its market position. The brand is renowned for handcrafted wooden cabinets, violin-inspired industrial design, and signature model lines including the Guarneri Homage, Amati, Stradivari, and Aida. Early designs featured Kevlar woofers and silk-dome tweeters, though solid-wood construction became the defining material signature. Each speaker is treated as a musical instrument rather than mere audio equipment, reflecting the company's artisanal manufacturing ethos.

Sonus faber occupies the premium high-end segment of the audio market, commanding respect among discerning audiophiles and collectors worldwide. The brand's reputation rests on uncompromising craftsmanship, luxury materials, and the integration of traditional Italian design principles with contemporary audio technology. Its positioning appeals to listeners who view speakers as both functional components and interior design statements—a niche that has sustained the company's prestige and premium pricing across its four-decade history.
