Scan-Speak was founded on February 1, 1970, in Videbæk, Denmark, by Ejvind Skaaning, initially to produce drivers for Scandyna A-25 and Dynaco A-25 loudspeakers after a supply dispute with Seas. Emerging from Skaaning's prior venture QSR and ties to Scandinavian Speaker Company, the firm quickly expanded, developing iconic early products like the D2008 tweeter by 1971-74. Scan-Speak commands a premier position in the high-end market as the benchmark for state-of-the-art drivers, earning acclaim for uncompromising quality and innovation, from Kevlar membranes in 1988 to ongoing refinements. Once acquired by Tymphany, it returned to Danish ownership via local investors, reinforcing its reputation among discerning builders and luxury manufacturers who demand the crème de la crème.
