This hybrid stereo amplifier has recently been serviced and is sounding great. Previous owner replaced faulty power transistors, added new circuit parts for the new transistors, added Miflex signal capacitors, cleaned & recalibrated amplifier. Buyer’s market, and this one lands slightly above fair: at US$1,200, it’s just over the recent median of US$1,188 and a touch above the 75th percentile of US$1,194, so I’d call it mildly ambitious rather than a bargain. It’s not overpriced in any alarming way, but it doesn’t leave much room for negotiation unless the condition or service history is unusually strong.
The appeal here is straightforward: this is a respected, muscular stereo power amp with the kind of grip, current delivery, and tonal ease that made Counterpoint gear appealing in the first place. If the unit is clean, original, and fully healthy, that’s the real upside—these older tube/hybrid-era amps can sound very special when they’re sorted. I’d just want confirmation on recent servicing, any hum/noise, and whether it includes anything important that could affect immediate use.

Counterpoint was a U.S. hi-fi brand founded in California in 1977, best associated with designer Michael Elliott, who joined the company in 1979 and became closely linked with its tube-era identity.
