Rotel RB-1552 Mk. II Power Amplifier in Black. Excellent Condition. Hello. This has been a staple in my system for a few years. Many other amplifiers have come and gone, but this one has always made its way back into my system. It is very neutral – not adding or taking away anything from the music. It basically adds gain without coloring the sound. That is what you want in an amplifier! It was voted "Affordable Amp of the Year" The Absolute Sound magazine honored the RB-1552 Mk.II with its Solid-State Amp of the Year in the "Affordable" category. It is rated at 130 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms. It is also stable into 4 Ohms at 185 Watts per channel. It has a damping factor of 450. Anything over 100 is considered good. The damping factor is the ability to control the speaker after the signal is absent. This would explain why it has such good control over the bass. Tight and deep. The condition is excellent. No flaws to speak of. I have the original box and packing along with the manual and power cord. This is a current model that sells for $1699.
This is a fair ask, sitting just above the US$899 median and below the US$999 75th percentile for recent comparables, so it reads as solid but not a bargain. At US$999, you’re paying market-top-half pricing rather than getting a discount, but it is still within the normal band for this amp.
That makes sense for a Rotel stereo power amp: these are well-liked for clean, controlled drive and good current delivery, especially if you want an honest, unfussy two-channel workhorse. If the listing is clean and complete, the upside is getting a respected piece that should slot easily into a serious system; at this price, I’d mainly want confirmation that it powers up properly, both channels are quiet, and there’s no evidence of past repair or output issues.
