At €499, this is firmly in upper-tier used pricing for a Yamaha CDX-500; comparable sold/listed examples I can find are much lower, with one European listing at €59, so this asking price looks ambitious rather than a bargain. For a vintage single-disc player, that’s a big premium unless the seller can show exceptional provenance, a recent full service, or unusually complete accessories.
That said, the CDX-500 is a respected Yamaha-era player: solid build, clean presentation, and the kind of straightforward, musical CD playback many collectors still like. If the deck is genuinely excellent, with original remote, box, and trouble-free tray/laser behavior, it may appeal to someone prioritizing condition over value. At this price, I’d want proof it’s been recently tested over multiple discs and that skip/loading behavior is perfect.
