Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This is a fair-to-good deal, with a slight lean positive at €139. Recent used asks for the CS-42 cluster around roughly €129–€200, with examples at €129, €150, €188, and €200, so this sits near the lower end of the market rather than looking stretched. The original price was about €335, which makes the current ask feel sensible for a well-kept centre channel.

The CS-42 is worth buying because it’s a proper full-size centre from Nubert’s respected nuLine range, so it should do the core centre-channel job well: clear dialogue, solid tonal weight, and good integration with matching Nubert fronts. The excellent condition is the real upside here, especially if it’s truly from one owner and complete. At this price, I’d be keen unless there’s cosmetic damage, driver issues, or missing grills/feet.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Nubert

Nubert electronic GmbH traces its roots to a garage in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, where Günther Nubert began crafting loudspeakers to his exacting standards in the early 1970s. On January 10, 1975, he formally founded the company, marking the birth of a brand synonymous with honest, uncolored audio reproduction. What started as a passion project quickly evolved into a nationwide phenomenon, fueled by word-of-mouth praise and the debut of iconic models like the 388, 471, 551, and the distinctive omnidirectional nuPyramide. Still under Günther Nubert's leadership as owner and chief developer, the company has maintained family-run independence for over 50 years.

Nubert's product lineup centers on loudspeakers, from passive floorstanders and bookshelves in series like Numero to active systems and powerful soundbars that punch above their weight in home theater performance. Since introducing its first in-house amplifier in 2005, the brand has expanded into integrated electronics, emphasizing neutral signal fidelity across music and film playback. While not venturing into turntables, DACs, headphones, or cables, Nubert prioritizes direct-sales models that deliver high-value engineering without retail markups.

Renowned as a pioneer of Germany's direct-to-consumer hi-fi model since 1995—which drove 40% annual growth amid a shrinking market—Nubert occupies a solid mid-to-high-tier position. Selling around 15,000 pairs yearly at its peak, it appeals to discerning buyers seeking robust, made-in-Germany performance over flashy aesthetics, earning a loyal following for transparent sound that lets source material shine unaltered.
