We have an original factory pair of Jensen model DA-4 Stereo Directors with original crossovers and factory case and finish. The wood enclosures were built and come with the speakers. He had these paired with the JENSEN Flex air 15” in homemade factory spec enclosures including a square down firing port. Everything has been stored inside since his passing and hasnt been exposed to weather etc. Crossovers have not been tested yet but appear in excellent condition. I wanted to see if there was any interest in a setup like this and what the following is for these. .
Against the obvious alternative at US$2,000—which is a lot of money for another pair of vintage speakers—this looks ambitious versus your own comp set. The median recent asking price is US$256, and even the 75th percentile at US$1,328 sits well below this listing, so it is priced at a premium rather than a bargain.
That said, the appeal here is the whole package: early Jensen hardware, large 15-inch Flexair drivers, cabinets, and the original crossovers, which is exactly the kind of completeness collectors pay for. If the drivers are original, the crossovers are intact, and the cabinets are clean and structurally sound, the upside is real for a period-correct, high-sensitivity vintage system. At this level, I’d want proof of originality and working condition before treating it as anything more than a collector-grade ask.
