Original U.S.-made integrated amplifier; largely original and includes a mix of tubes, including a matched pair of British Mullard ECF80/6BL8s, four Soviet 12AX7WAs, GE and Sylvania 6BQ5/EL84s, plus several additional vintage replacements. Chassis is clean and complete with transformers intact, and the amplifier has not been heavily modified. The multi-section can capacitor has been opened (cover removed), indicating restoration was started but not completed, so the amplifier should be considered untested and sold as-is. An excellent candidate for restoration, tube rolling, or use as the foundation for a high-end vintage audio system. At US$500, this looks fair to slightly good for a vintage HH Scott 222-A, assuming it’s complete and not hiding major transformer or output-stage issues. Comparable vintage Scott 222-family pieces show a wide spread, with a 222A example at US$600 and other restored or stronger-condition 222C units around US$700-US$999, which puts this ask below the mid-pack rather than at bargain-basement level.
What makes it worth chasing is the classic Scott sound and the model’s place in the line: the 222 series was a long-running, well-regarded EL84/6BQ5 integrated that earned its reputation on musical, smooth tube tone and good practical power for efficient speakers. If the chassis is original and the amp is electrically healthy, the upside is solid; just treat unknown-condition tube gear as service-likely unless there’s proof of recent restoration, and verify that the power transformer, output transformers, controls, and original parts are all present before paying full ask.
