Seller's Description

Focal JM Labs Electra 906 Bookshelf Loudspeakers Hi All,   Thank you for looking.  I am moving on these JM Lab Focal Electra 906 bookshelf speakers.  They are a great sounding unit, I just feel it is time to try something new 🙂 .   Some info that I found on the web and rehashed...   90 db efficient and 8 ohms, presents an easy load . The Electra features a 6.5 inch "W" design mid-bass cone which is two pieces of glass tissue sandwiched around a middle foam layer. Bass is spec'ed out at 50 Hz but it definitely seems to hit a bit lower than that. Very fast and tight bass from this speaker. The t

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

A$750 is a fair ask for these, and not out of line for a good pair. Recent used examples have landed anywhere from about A$400 in tired-looking but working shape to around A$900 for cleaner examples, so this sits close to the middle of the market rather than being a steal or a stretch.

That still makes them interesting: the Electra 906 is a very well-regarded compact Focal/JM Lab with lively dynamics, strong imaging, and the kind of clarity that rewards good amplification and careful setup. If the drivers are original and healthy, and the cabinets/grilles are presentable, this is the sort of speaker that can outperform many newer boxes at the same money. At this price, just confirm all drivers are working cleanly and there’s no tweeter fatigue, foam, or damaged terminals.

About Focal

Focal traces its roots to 1979 in Saint-Étienne, France, where engineer and hi-fi enthusiast Jacques Mahul founded the company in a small workshop within his father's precision engineering firm. Initially operating as JMlab, it began crafting bespoke speaker drivers, with early models like the DB13 earning acclaim for their compact yet dynamic bass performance. This heritage of acoustic innovation and French craftsmanship propelled Focal's evolution, marked by pivotal 1990s expansions under Gérard Chrétien's leadership, yielding iconic references such as the Vega and Grande Utopia loudspeakers that redefined audiophile standards.

The brand's core focus remains high-fidelity loudspeakers, where it excels through in-house driver design featuring breakthroughs like inverted-dome tweeters, Polyglass cones, flax diaphragms, and beryllium tweeters in its Utopia line. Focal has diversified into professional studio monitors, premium headphones, car audio systems, and select accessories, all emphasizing noble materials and meticulous engineering. While not delving into amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, its speaker-centric portfolio spans home, mobile, and pro applications with unwavering commitment to purity of sound.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Focal commands respect as a world leader among discerning hi-fi buyers for its benchmark performance, international awards, and "Made in France" prestige. No longer a niche boutique, it blends heritage appeal with cutting-edge technology, attracting serious audiophiles who prioritize transparency, dynamics, and emotional depth over mass-market compromises.
