Compared with the obvious alternative at US$799, this is above the typical used market for this model: your database says the median sold price is US$321, with the 75th percentile at US$1,142. So it’s not an automatic overpay, but it is clearly an upper-half ask for a used SL-D3, and I’d want the condition, service history, and warranty terms to be genuinely solid before calling it a buy.
That said, the SL-D3 has a good reputation as a reliable direct-drive Technics deck: stable speed, low fuss, and a sturdy everyday platform that can outlast a lot of flashier vintage tables. If this one is clean, fully tested, and includes the usual hard-to-find bits in good shape, the premium buys convenience and lower risk. The upside is strongest for someone who wants a ready-to-play vintage Technics rather than a project piece.
