The Harman Kardon 330c is a highly regarded vintage stereo receiver from 1975, known for its warm, "musical" sound and 20W per channel output into 8ohms. It features a distinctive smoked glass faceplate, reliable solid-state engineering, and is often preferred for vinyl setups due to its quality phono stage. 20W is extremely conservative, many note this is more realistically 30W and I was using it on some 50W plus speakers with plenty of power/sound to shake the neighbors. In an era where most companies were chasing more watts, Harman Kardon engineers focused on other metrics to improve sound quality and performance at lower wattage delivering sound quality that exceeds its power rating and price point, making it a coveted item among collectors and music lovers. UPGRADES82 Parts Replaced for Improved Performance and Reliability. FULL RECAP - every single capacitor has been replaced in this receiver with nichicon modern equivalents. All known noisy/troublesome transistors replaced on the power supply, amp board, tone/preamp board, phono board. Variable resistor trim pots for dialing bias have been replaced and bias is set to factory spec 10mv. New upgraded LED lamps for dual lamps, power button, stereo bulb, FM meter bulb. FM is clean and clear on many stations even in my remote area, I suggest attaching an antenna if you live in a more rural area. This unit sounds as good as it did leaving the factory in 1976. COSMETICS 9.6 out of 10 conservatively. REVIEW ALL PHOTOS FOR COSMETICS, I have included close ups in the last photos of a few minor items. On the right side of the cover, you can see someone scratched perhaps their phone number, See the photos of that area to assess, It is quite faint and mostly only noticeable at certain angles and lighting. On the left of the face very faint marks in the plastic against the aluminum, see close up photo. The only other area worth noting is on the volume button very light scratch along the rim, see close up . Please review all photos and you will see that this is still a really beautiful unit considering it's age.It will blow the roof off the house if you want it to, the sound fills the room and stays clean no matter the media or the volume. I strongly recommend playing with "contour" button engaged to hear the full potential of any Harman Kardon from this era, it is truly a warm, bright, clean sound. I have collected and auditioned the best receivers from Marantz, Pioneer, Sansui, Yamaha and I have settled on the Harman Kardon trio 330c/430/730 as the best looking and sounding receivers for my eye and ear slightly overtaking Marantz 22 series as a close 2nd. This truly is an incredible piece of equipment, these models really do live up to their sterling reputation and this is an opportunity to own a nearly fully restored (anything left in this receiver is not known to have issues so they have been left alone), great condition Harman Kardon 330c.I have many years selling and shipping heavy, vintage stereo equipment.
