I have the Amber Model 17 (straight line) - this US made pre-amp has beaten here the Hafler DH101 and the GAS Thalia easily. Fine pre-amp - rare - highly recommended.
This is above-market but not outrageous for a restored, collectible Amber preamp; at €380 it sits well above the €206 median and just over the €377 75th percentile, so it’s an ambitious ask rather than a bargain. For a piece with some rarity and collector appeal, that can still be defensible if the restoration is well documented and the unit is genuinely ready to plug in.
What makes it interesting is the mix of vintage charm and practical upside: a restored example with the correct 230/115 V setup is the kind of listing that can save a buyer time and risk versus a tired, unrestored unit. If the work is clean, the price reflects the premium for convenience, but I’d still want specifics on what was serviced, whether the cosmetics are original, and if any parts or paperwork are included.
