High-End Kombi: Rotel RC-980BX Vorverstärker & 2x Rotel RB-980BX Stereo-Endstufen (Mono-brückbar)

Hallo HiFi-Freunde,

1. Vorverstärker: Rotel RC-980BX (Mitte)

Typ: Stereo-Vorverstärker (Klasse A/B, puristischer Aufbau ohne Klangregler für maximalen Signalfluss)

Baujahre: 1992 - 1997 (Hergestellt in Japan)

Eingänge: 6 Hochpegeleingänge (CD, Tuner, Aux, Tape 1, Tape 2) sowie eine hervorragende Phono-Sektion

Phono-Stufe: Umschaltbar für MM (2,5 mV / 47 kOhm) und MC (0,25 mV / 100 Ohm)

Ausgänge: 2x Pre-Out (Perfekt für den parallelen Betrieb beider Endstufen), 2x Tape Rec, Kopfhörer (6,3 mm Klinke)

Klirrfaktor: Extrem geringe 0,004 %

Frequenzgang: 4 Hz - 100.000 Hz (+0,5 dB / -3 dB)

Abmessungen (BxHxT): 440 x 70 x 325 mm | Gewicht: 4,1 kg

2. Endstufen: 2x Rotel RB-980BX (Oben & Unten)

Typ: Stereo/Mono Klasse A/B Endverstärker

Leistung im Stereo-Modus (pro Endstufe):

2x 120 Watt RMS an 8 Ohm

2x 180 Watt RMS an 4 Ohm

Leistung im Mono-gebrückten Modus (BTL - ideal für dieses Set!):

1x 360 Watt RMS an 8 Ohm (pro Endstufe)

Dämpfungsfaktor: 1000 (20 - 20.000 Hz, 8 Ohm) – sorgt für eine fantastische Basskontrolle

Gesamtklirrfaktor: 0,03 %

Signalrauschabstand: 120 dB

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Should you pay €2,800 for this, or are you better waiting for a cleaner deal? Against your own market anchor, it’s clearly ambitious: the asking price is well above the 75th percentile of €472 and far beyond the median of €258, so this sits in rarefied territory unless it’s an exceptional, fully documented set.

That said, Rotel mono blocks and matching preamps have a solid reputation for honest, punchy, low-noise performance, and a package like this can make sense if you want a cohesive vintage system rather than piecing one together. The upside is strongest if it’s from a single careful owner, recently serviced, and complete with original accessories; at this level, though, I’d want proof of condition, service history, and that all channels are healthy before treating it as a serious buy.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Rotel

Rotel: Japanese Hi-Fi Heritage Since 1961

Rotel traces its lineage to Tokyo, where entrepreneur and engineer Tomoki Tachikawa established the company in 1961, initially as an OEM supplier manufacturing televisions for Sylvania before pivoting to audio equipment. The brand name itself emerged from a creative necessity—unable to register "Roland" worldwide due to the musical instrument manufacturer's prior claim, Tachikawa combined "Roland" with "Matel," one of his earlier trading companies. Now in its seventh decade, Rotel remains family-owned and operated, with Tachikawa's nephew Peter Kao currently leading the company. This continuity of family stewardship has been central to Rotel's identity and operational philosophy.

Rotel has built its reputation primarily through integrated and power amplifiers, establishing itself as a cornerstone brand for serious music enthusiasts. The company's product portfolio extends across compact disc players, turntables, preamplifiers, and home theater components—over 2 million units across 630 unique models since inception. This focused approach reflects Rotel's core commitment: manufacturing hi-fi equipment and nothing else, eschewing diversification in favor of mastery within audio.

Positioned squarely in the high-end to upper-midrange segment, Rotel commands respect among audiophiles and music lovers seeking exceptional value without compromise on engineering standards. The brand's reputation rests on decades of consistent quality, thoughtful design, and a refusal to chase trends. While known for premium amplifiers targeting discerning listeners, Rotel has recently expanded accessibility with entry-level offerings, ensuring the brand remains relevant across experience levels without diluting its core identity.
