Seller's Description

Naim Audio Nait XS Integrated Amplifier (Solid State) Naim Nait XS integrated amplifier. Excellent condition with no marks at all. I purchased it from the US, the voltage of which is 115V. A TorTech step down transformer is also included so that it can be used in Australia. Comes with the power cable, manual and original box, no remote control.   Also for sale is the CD 5i CD player purchased in the US along with the Nait XS (See my other ad). Would prefer to sell as a lot as the CD player has a remote control that can also be used to control the Nait XS amplifier. Also the TorTech transformer

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At A$1,500, this Naim Audio NAIT XS (CD Player) is priced just above the median of A$1,462 from three recent AUD comparables, landing between the 25th percentile (A$1,329) and 75th percentile (A$1,488), making it a fair, not ambitious, deal in the current used market. While new units are long discontinued, this asking price reflects solid value for a well-maintained example in excellent condition.

The NAIT XS is beloved for its warm, musical CD playback and seamless integration with Naim’s amplifier ecosystem, offering a refined listening experience that still competes with modern budget players. An excellent-condition unit from an original owner—especially if it includes the original remote, power cable, and box—represents a timely buying opportunity for enthusiasts seeking classic Naim sound without the premium of rare vintage models. No red flags arise at this price for a clean, well-specified listing.

About Naim Audio

Naim Audio, a cornerstone of British hi-fi excellence, traces its origins to 1973 when Julian Vereker, a self-taught engineer, racing driver, and music enthusiast, formally incorporated the company in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Vereker's journey began earlier, in 1969, experimenting with tape recording and sound-to-light boxes before designing his first power amplifier in 1971. Amid the British hi-fi industry's recession, he secured a pivotal contract with Capital Radio, blending entrepreneurial grit with a passion for authentic sound reproduction that challenged conventional wisdom.

The brand specializes in premium integrated amplifiers, power amplifiers, preamplifiers, digital streamers, DACs, and compact music systems, often featuring built-in amplification for streamlined setups. While not delving into speakers—beyond a historical foray—or headphones and turntables, Naim emphasizes modular, upgradable components that prioritize pace, rhythm, and timing (PRaT), a signature sonic philosophy rooted in the "source first" approach alongside contemporaries like Linn.

Naim holds a commanding position in the high-end market, revered by discerning audiophiles for its handmade, innovative systems that deliver emotional musical engagement over mere specifications. Now part of VerVent Audio Group following a 2011 merger with Focal, it exports to over 45 countries, sustaining a cult following for resilient, influential designs that transcend economic cycles.
