Compared with the obvious alternative at this price point — a lot of ordinary integrated amps that simply haven’t held value — A$4,500 is slightly under the recent used-market median of A$4,579 and comfortably inside the A$4,295–A$4,992 interquartile range, so this reads as fair value rather than a stretch. It is not a bargain on percentile terms, but it is close enough to the middle that I’d view it as buyable if the condition and provenance check out.
That makes sense for a Sugden: these are well-regarded for their smooth, natural midrange, sweet treble, and very unforced presentation, with enough grip and drive to suit efficient speakers beautifully. The upside here is the kind of clean, current-production, enthusiast-owned piece that can be a long-term keeper; if it has the original packaging, remote, and a tidy service history, that adds real confidence.
