That said, the Spec-1 has the right kind of reputation to draw serious interest: it’s a classic, no-nonsense preamp with a strong following for its build quality, low-noise presentation, and straightforward, highly usable control layout. If this example is truly excellent, that helps justify paying up a bit, especially for a clean, unmodified unit with known service history and original parts; otherwise, I’d want some room off the ask.
