Audition the Bowers and Wilkins 702 S2 at our Lane Cove showroom to appreciate their clarity, scale and musical engagement in a properly sized listening space.

The Bowers and Wilkins 702 S2 employs a fully decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter housed in a solid aluminium body, raising the first breakup mode well beyond the audible range for outstanding detail and imaging.

The Continuum midrange cone, also decoupled, offers a major step forward in midband purity, while the three Aerofoil Profile bass drivers deliver fast, powerful low frequencies with excellent control.

Frequency response extends from 45 Hz to 28 kHz (±3 dB), with a –6 dB point at 28 Hz, and sensitivity of 90 dB ensures compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers.

The rear-firing Flowport and carefully braced cabinet further contribute to clean, dynamic performance that remains composed even at higher listening levels.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At A$4,600, this sits just above the A$4,466 median and a touch over the A$4,642 75th percentile, so it reads as fairly priced but slightly ambitious rather than a bargain.

That’s still reasonable for a well-liked floorstander with real hi-fi pedigree: the 702 S2 is known for open, detailed treble, strong imaging, and a big, composed soundstage when set up properly. At this level, the value hinges on condition, driver health, and whether the finish, grilles, feet, and original packaging are all present; if it’s a clean, cared-for pair, it’s a solid buy for someone who wants a high-end modern speaker without paying new-retail money.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Bowers & Wilkins

Bowers & Wilkins, the esteemed British hi-fi brand, traces its origins to 1966 in Worthing, West Sussex, when John Bowers founded the company with a £10,000 bequest from a satisfied customer, Miss Knight, who admired his hobby-crafted loudspeakers. Previously, Bowers and Roy Wilkins had run an electronics rental shop after meeting in the British Army during World War II. This fortuitous legacy fueled Bowers' obsession with acoustic perfection, launching the P1 as their inaugural product and establishing a foundation of relentless innovation in speaker design.

The brand excels in premium loudspeakers across categories like floorstanders, bookshelves, and studio monitors, with iconic lines such as the 600 Series for accessible excellence and the legendary 801, adopted as Abbey Road Studios' reference in 1979. They also produce high-end headphones like the P5 and Zeppelin, formation audio systems, and select electronics, prioritizing driver technology, cabinetry, and precise engineering over amplifiers, turntables, or cables.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Bowers & Wilkins commands reverence among discerning audiophiles and professionals for its clarity, musical truth, and uncompromised fidelity. A staple in both consumer and studio environments, it embodies British precision engineering, blending heritage with cutting-edge research to sustain its status as a benchmark for premium audio excellence.
