Seller's Description

Tchernov Cable CLASSIC XS MK2 XLR 1.65m Interconnect Cables (XLR) TCHERNOV Classic XS Mk2 XLR cables at 1.65m long, these are  premium construction and technology, Russian aerospace & Military production. The Classic XS is just below the Reference and has a similar sound signature to the Ref' and Ultimate. Part of a collection of gear I am clearing for an old client who has to downsize his audio in a big way. Purchased late 2022, has sat in the box unused but marked as mint due to age. I have tested the cable and put it on the burner for 48h to minimize burn in for the new owner!   The Classic

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Ambitious asking price at AUD600. This Tchernov Classic XS MK2 XLR is a discontinued symmetrical interconnect with solid 110 Ohm impedance and twisted BRC conductors, but used market comps lean lower—think AUD290 for a mint 0.62m pair on Australian forums, scaling to around AUD400-500 for longer runs based on original AUD780 RRP depreciation. Without length or condition details, it's tough to call a steal, especially if it's a single cable rather than a stereo pair; fair might be AUD350-450 for good used stock.

Buyers, verify these essentials first. Check the plugs—Classic V2 XLRs should be intact, no bent pins or loose contacts, as they're a common wear point on these Russians. Probe for jacket cracks or braid shield damage from flexing, and confirm length plus stereo pairing; missing nylon sleeves or original boxes ding resale. Age it by serial if possible—older ones might need dielectric inspection for CAFPE degradation. Test continuity and noise floor in-system before committing.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Tchernov Cable

Tchernov Cable emerged from Russia in 1997, founded by Petr Chernov Sen as the nation's first specialized brand for HiFi and video cables. Serial production began in 2002, drawing on Russia's storied manufacturing heritage in aviation, space, and military industries, with facilities like Chuvashcable in Cheboksary and a design bureau in Mytishi handling core production. All copper cables, except HDMI and USB variants, are crafted in these high-precision Russian plants, terminated in Moscow, and fitted with Taiwan-sourced connectors tailored to Tchernov specifications.

The brand focuses exclusively on cables, spanning interconnects, speaker cables, and AV lines organized into streamlined series—Junior, Original, Special, Classic, Reference, and Ultimate—for clarity in selection. Multistrand copper designs incorporate multilayer shielding with damping and antistatic properties to minimize interference, emphasizing proprietary technologies and top-grade Russian copper for superior signal integrity.

Tchernov occupies a respected niche in the high-end cable market, prized by audiophiles for exceptional clarity, balance, and low noise floors, even in entry models. Positioned as a boutique contender against global giants, it appeals to discerning buyers seeking Russian-engineered precision without excess complexity, though counterfeit warnings underscore the need for authentic sourcing.
