Seller's Description

Focal Chorus V 807w Bookshelf Loudspeakers Up for sale Focal Chorus V 807w Speakers   In very good condition (7/10) also the protective film is still on the back and some very very minor light superficial scuffs.  A great speaker that really fills the room (medium sized room) well with authority. They’re a fairly big book shelf and have an equally big sound. Incredible detail and clarity across the range and really does dig deep down low. They have served me incredibly very well and I just wanted something a bit smaller. I was driving them with a Naim 5Si amplifier (also for sale) that paired

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Should you jump on this at A$850, or is the market offering better value? Against your own comp set, it sits above the median A$600 and also above the 75th percentile A$800, so this reads as ambitious rather than fair value.

That said, this is still a well-regarded line: Focal’s Chorus speakers are known for lively detail, clean imaging, and strong build quality, which keeps them desirable on the used market. In very good condition, the upside is that you’re buying something likely to deliver proper hi-fi performance without the usual bargain-bin compromises. I’d want to see complete driver health, original grilles, and any stands or packaging if the seller has them, but the bigger issue here is price: at A$850, it’s only compelling if the condition, provenance, or included extras are genuinely better than average.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About Focal

Focal traces its roots to 1979 in Saint-Étienne, France, where engineer and hi-fi enthusiast Jacques Mahul founded the company in a small workshop within his father's precision engineering firm. Initially operating as JMlab, it began crafting bespoke speaker drivers, with early models like the DB13 earning acclaim for their compact yet dynamic bass performance. This heritage of acoustic innovation and French craftsmanship propelled Focal's evolution, marked by pivotal 1990s expansions under Gérard Chrétien's leadership, yielding iconic references such as the Vega and Grande Utopia loudspeakers that redefined audiophile standards.

The brand's core focus remains high-fidelity loudspeakers, where it excels through in-house driver design featuring breakthroughs like inverted-dome tweeters, Polyglass cones, flax diaphragms, and beryllium tweeters in its Utopia line. Focal has diversified into professional studio monitors, premium headphones, car audio systems, and select accessories, all emphasizing noble materials and meticulous engineering. While not delving into amplifiers, turntables, DACs, or cables, its speaker-centric portfolio spans home, mobile, and pro applications with unwavering commitment to purity of sound.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, Focal commands respect as a world leader among discerning hi-fi buyers for its benchmark performance, international awards, and "Made in France" prestige. No longer a niche boutique, it blends heritage appeal with cutting-edge technology, attracting serious audiophiles who prioritize transparency, dynamics, and emotional depth over mass-market compromises.
