The Dual CS 701 has a solid reputation as a well-engineered early-’70s belt-drive deck, but at US$1,472 this asking price is clearly ambitious against the recent market: it sits well above the US$1,215 75th percentile and far over the US$362 median. That makes it a premium ask, not a fair baseline, unless the seller can prove exceptional originality, servicing, and accessories.
What keeps the CS 701 interesting is its smooth automatic operation, understated build quality, and the fact that clean examples can be very enjoyable daily players. If this one is cosmetically excellent and fully serviced, that helps, but the buyer should expect strong evidence to justify the premium: documented maintenance, a healthy platter motor, working automation, a good dust cover, and ideally the original headshell and arm hardware.
