Here’s a 1963 H.H. Scott type 222c tube pre amp power amp. This is a wonderful sounding unit! Nice tube warmth. Highly regarded for its rich tube sound and rugged build. To our knowledge everything is functioning like it should, it did well when we tested it but we didn't have a phone to see if those outputs where 100%. The person we are selling it for stated he had had it serviced before he brought it in. All tubes are OK and we will pack it like we pack everything, check our feed back. Can't go wrong with this unit as many McIntosh's are so expensive now they are out of reach. See pictures for condition.
Compared with grabbing a restored integrated amp in the same bracket, this one is ambitious at US$950 versus a typical used market centered at US$750, with the upper end around US$850. That puts it above the usual range, so it only makes sense if the unit is exceptionally clean, freshly serviced, or unusually complete.
The HH Scott 222-C is a beloved tube classic for a reason: big, musical midrange, easygoing treble, and enough charm to make efficient speakers come alive. If the cosmetics are strong and service history is documented, it can still be a worthwhile buy for someone who wants the Scott sound rather than the cheapest route into vintage tubes; otherwise, I’d want to see proof of recap, bias/coupling-cap work, and solid output-transformer health before paying at this level.
