Against your own comparator set, US$258 sits far above the 75th percentile at US$141, so this reads as ambitious rather than merely firm.
That said, the CAS4040 is well-regarded for a sweet, musical, low-fatiguing presentation and a size that pairs easily with real-world speakers, which is why it’s still remembered fondly. If the unit is clean, fully working, and includes the right input lead/any original bits, the buyer is paying for a nicely preserved piece of British hi-fi history—but at this level I’d want exceptional condition or provenance to justify it.
