This is a respected Technics power amp, but the asking price of US$1,169 is well above the recent used market anchor: it sits far past the 75th percentile at US$688, so this reads as ambitious rather than a bargain. For a buyer, that means the seller is asking top-tier money for a piece that normally trades much lower, so the premium needs to be justified by exceptional condition, provenance, or included extras.
What makes it attractive is the SE-A808’s reputation for solid build, strong drive, and the kind of clean, authoritative presentation Technics’ better separates are known for. If it’s genuinely clean, serviced, and complete, it could still be a rewarding buy for someone specifically chasing this model; otherwise, at this price, I’d want evidence of recent maintenance, original parts, and a very well-preserved chassis before getting serious.
