The LSI was a well-regarded vintage Straight Wire design, known for a notably neutral, coherent presentation rather than added warmth or “hi-fi” color. At US$68, this is a strong bargain: it sits well below the comparable-listing 25th percentile of US$151, and far under the US$683 median.
Its appeal is straightforward: a serious, musically even-handed interconnect with good transient and harmonic clarity, built around quality conductors, air-space insulation, and custom Teflon-insulated plugs. A one-meter pair is an easy fit for most source-to-amplifier setups, and the 1980s provenance gives it some collector interest without making it impractical. Since the listing says condition is unknown, confirm both RCA plugs are secure, the cable has no intermittent crackle when flexed, and that the pair is complete—but even allowing for cosmetic wear, US$68 is an excellent entry price.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
Straight Wire is an American cable specialist founded by Steven Hill, with roots in Hollywood, Florida and a history that the company traces back to a garage startup. Its own materials and distributor descriptions place it among the early names in audiophile cabling, and it has built a long-running identity around performance-focused wire rather than full-system electronics.
The brand is primarily known for audio and AV cables: interconnects, speaker cables, HDMI leads, custom-install wiring, and related termination hardware. Its product lines have included a wide range of named cable families for stereo and home-theater use, with an emphasis on signal transfer, flexibility, and installation-friendly design. Straight Wire is not a maker of amplifiers, speakers, turntables, DACs, or headphones.
In the market, Straight Wire sits in the niche high-end cable segment rather than the mainstream component business. It is best understood as a specialist brand for audiophiles, custom installers, and home-theater users who want established, American-made cable products from a company with decades of continuity. Its reputation is solid but focused: respected in its category, especially among buyers who prioritize cable design and system matching over flashy hardware branding.
