This unit has scratches on the front panel, this amplifier shows some minor stains on the front panel. The previous owner had the top cover professionally repainted, achieving satisfactory results, and the previous owner also had a general service performed, including potentiometer cleaning. It is an equipment that was tested for more than 8 continuous hours. The phono stage has been tested and operates perfectly.During testing, we noticed that the rear connection panel has some rust/corrosion, which is a common issue with this particular amplifier model. The previous owner decided to replace the original metal side panels with custom-made wooden side panels painted in a matte black finish. They look very good, but they are not original to the unit. US$550 is on the strong side for an AU-6600 unless it’s been properly serviced and is presenting as exceptionally clean; the typical market seems to land closer to about US$400–US$500 for an ordinary used example, with nicer or recently serviced units pushing higher. At that level, this is not a bargain-basement score, but it can still be fair if the cosmetics are excellent and the amp is fully sorted.
The appeal is real: the AU-6600 is one of Sansui’s sweet-voiced late-’70s integrateds, with good build quality, musical mids, and enough drive to make efficient speakers sing.
