Seller's Description

Pioneer SA-8500II Stereo Amplifier Serviced Operational.IMPORTANT: Pioneer SA-8500II amplifier for sale. It is a clear and beautiful amplifier belonging to the Pioneer series from 1977. Its sound is really clear. It is an equipment that was tested for more than 8 continuous hours. The previous owner recently had the unit electronically serviced, including the replacement of capacitors and other components that had deteriorated or fallen out of specification. The unit has some stains and scratches on the front panel, as well as on a few of the aluminum knobs. Both covers were refinished with a professional powder-coat finish, achieving a result very similar to the original appearance. The Phono stage was tested and is working properly. This is a well-cared-for amplifier that has had only two owners. During the sound test, we noticed that some of the potentiometers require electronic cleaning/service, as they produce some noise when adjusted.A test video was recorded to the amplifier. Our Thoughts RADAR AI

At US$635, this sits below the US$699 median and just under the US$635 first quartile, so it reads as a strong buy rather than a stretch. For a respected vintage Pioneer integrated, that’s a very sensible asking price in today’s used market.

The SA-8500 is well liked for its solid build, good phono section, and lively, full-bodied presentation, so it makes sense for someone who wants a classic all-in-one from the era. If it’s been serviced, or at least confirmed quiet and stable on both channels, this is the kind of listing that can be a real enthusiast’s win.

About Pioneer

Pioneer traces its roots to 1937 in Tokyo, Japan, when founder Nozomu Matsumoto, inspired by the thrill of imported hi-fi speakers, developed the A-8 dynamic speaker and launched a radio and speaker repair shop. The business formalized as Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho in 1938, evolving into Pioneer Corporation and embodying Matsumoto's philosophy of "Move the Heart and Touch the Soul" through audio innovation.

The brand excels across diverse hi-fi categories, pioneering Japan's first headphones in 1960 with the SE-1 and the world's first component-based stereo system in 1965 via the PSC-5A. Pioneer's portfolio spans amplifiers, speakers, turntables, and DACs, alongside landmark car audio advancements like the 1975 Supertuner-equipped stereo and the 1986 in-car CD player, blending home and automotive excellence.

Today, Pioneer holds a commanding mid-to-high-tier position in the market, revered for reliable, performance-driven gear that balances premium quality with accessibility. Its vintage components attract collectors, while current offerings appeal to discerning buyers seeking robust, innovative sound reproduction without boutique excess.
