US$250 is a bit above the typical used market here: it sits above the US$200 median and just over the US$225 75th percentile, so I’d call it slightly ambitious rather than a steal. It’s not out of line enough to dismiss, but it does need to justify itself with condition, provenance, or extras.
That said, Sony’s better vintage receivers are often bought for their solid build, straightforward ergonomics, and punchy, enjoyable sound, so a clean, well-kept example can still be a worthwhile pickup. If it’s truly original-owner, fully working, and includes the remote, manual, or box, the premium becomes easier to swallow; if not, I’d want a little room to negotiate.
