€199 is fair-to-good rather than a steal: recent used asking prices I found cluster around about €90, €125, and €130, with a higher €199 example showing up as an outlier, so this sits above the soft center of the market but not into truly crazy territory. If the unit is clean and complete, it’s still a reasonable buy for a sought-after XLO piece, just not an obvious bargain.
The appeal here is the usual XLO one: solid build, respected power-cable reputation, and enough cult status that well-kept examples tend to hold interest. A tidy, original-length, properly terminated cable with no hard use is the kind of listing that can justify paying near €199 if you want this specific sound and brand. The main buyer focus should be completeness and condition, since that’s what will decide whether this is merely acceptable or genuinely attractive.
Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.
XLO is a cable specialist rather than a full electronics brand. It was founded in March 1991 by Roger Skoff in the United States, originally as XLO Electric Company, and it built its reputation around high-performance audio cabling rather than a broad component line.
The brand is known chiefly for speaker cables, interconnects, digital cables, and power-related accessories. Available coverage describes XLO as a manufacturer of “high-performance audio and video cables,” and its legacy is tied to the idea of extracting maximum signal integrity through carefully chosen materials and construction methods.
In market terms, XLO sits in the high-end, niche-boutique segment of hi-fi. It is best known among serious enthusiasts and reviewers who care about cable design as part of a system’s overall performance, and it has long had a reputation for ambitious, premium-priced products rather than mass-market gear. There is some evidence the brand’s ownership and distribution changed over time, so current availability may vary by region.
