Seller's Description

Superb speaker cables built by Dr Richard Bews, using a unique construction pairing multi strand copper conductors for the bass, and solid core copper or silver for the tweeters. In very good condition, they are thick but highly flexible and give a very neutral, detailed sound with excellent bass and airy midrange. Upgrading to all Audioquest cables hence the reluctant sale. 5m bi wired pair with bananas for the amp end and spades for the speaker end. Open to sensible offers.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This looks like a buyer’s market for this category: at £250, it sits far below the £1,058 25th percentile and well under the £1,820 median, so it reads as a strong bargain rather than merely fair. For a cable-level accessory from a respected hi-fi brand, that’s the kind of pricing that lets a buyer move quickly without overthinking it.

LFD’s wiring and interconnect accessories are generally valued for clean signal transfer, solid build, and easy system synergy, especially in revealing setups where small gains are audible. At this price, the upside is mainly about grabbing a tidy, well-kept example with the right length/termination for your system; if it’s complete and undamaged, it’s an easy enthusiast buy.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About LFD Audio

LFD Audio, a boutique British hi-fi manufacturer, traces its origins to 1987 in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, England. Founded by Dr. Richard Bews, a PhD student of Professor Hawksford—who pioneered influential audio research groups—the brand embodies a commitment to minimalist, low-distortion electronics. From its early days, LFD has prioritized hand-assembly by Bews himself, crafting components with painstaking selection of parts for sonic purity over aesthetic flair.

The company focuses primarily on solid-state amplifiers, including long-running integrated models like the LE, Zero Mk III LE, Mistral, and NCSE, alongside specialized gear such as the MCT preamplifier. LFD also produces high-end cables, interconnects, and phono leads, often refined in collaboration with dealers like Unique Audio, which has partnered with them for over 30 years. Their lineup eschews flashy features, turntables, speakers, DACs, or headphones, zeroing in on amplification and cabling as core strengths.

Positioned firmly in the high-end niche, LFD commands a cult following among discerning audiophiles for delivering some of the most natural-sounding solid-state amps available, despite their utilitarian, "butt ugly" appearance. As a low-profile, one-man operation far from mainstream fanfare, it appeals to buyers seeking uncompromised performance in a vintage-inspired, boutique package.
