PS Audio BHK 300 Mono Block Power Amplifiers Power Amplifier Selling the best power amplifiers I have ever owned. Regretful sell due to moving house and no space in apartment for these big toys anymore.    These amps need no introduction.    The BHK Signature 300 Mono power amplifier culminates one man’s lifelong quest for perfection in power amplification. Bascom H. King’s magnum opus combines a pair of vacuum tubes on its input with a double set of parallel MOSFET outputs capable of 300 watts in 8, 600 into 4 and more than 1,000 watts into 2.  The BHK Signature 300 amplifier can drive any lo

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

Compared with buying a new A$18,500 pair of power amps, this is hard to call a bargain unless the market is unusually thin; for used BHK 300 monos, that number sits in the ambitious-to-top-end zone rather than “easy yes” territory. If they’re immaculate, boxed, and from a careful owner, it can still be a defensible ask, but I’d want to see some room versus new pricing to feel it’s clearly good value.

The appeal is real: these are widely praised for combining tube sweetness with real grip, scale, and very natural timbre, plus they have enough power to handle most speakers with ease. They’re also a distinctive, well-regarded hybrid design, so a clean, complete pair with original tubes, covers, and proof of service has genuine upside. At this price, I’d verify age, tube hours, and that both monoblocks are fully quiet and matched before committing.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About PS Audio

PS Audio, a pioneering American hi-fi brand, traces its roots to 1973 when co-founder Paul McGowan launched the company in California alongside Stan Warren. Emerging from the analog golden age, it debuted with a standalone phono preamplifier, reflecting McGowan's early passion for vinyl playback honed through radio station connections and encounters with audio enthusiasts. The brand quickly evolved, embracing digital audio in the 1980s by releasing one of the first high-end CD players, the PS Audio CD-1, soon after Philips and Sony introduced the format.

Today, PS Audio specializes in premium electronics, including power amplifiers, preamplifiers, digital-to-analog converters (DACs), and integrated amplifiers, with a hallmark focus on power conditioning via innovative AC regenerators known as Power Plants. These devices, born from Stan Warren's mid-1980s discovery that oversized transformers enhance audio performance, remain a cornerstone. The lineup also encompasses digital lenses for refining streaming and disc playback, alongside select analog components, though it eschews speakers, headphones, turntables, or cables.

Positioned firmly in the high-end market, PS Audio commands respect among discerning audiophiles for its bold engineering and unwavering pursuit of musical purity. Celebrating 50 years in 2023, it occupies a niche as an innovator rather than a mass-market player, appealing to buyers who prioritize transformative power delivery and digital refinement in sophisticated systems.
