Seller's Description

For sale my wonderful active ATC SCM150ASL. Serviced by ATC around 4 years ago. Lovely piano black finish and great condition. Grills slightly damaged when i bought them and one badge missing. Slight haze on top of cabinets that can be polished out. All taken into account with the price.

Our Thoughts RADAR AI

This is a buyer’s market for this category, and at £11,500 this is firmly ambitious versus the recent used benchmark: well above the £6,787 75th percentile and nearly triple the £3,651 median. It isn’t “crazy” for a serious ATC flagship, but it sits in premium territory where condition, provenance, and inclusion of the right electronics matter a lot.

What keeps it interesting is the SCM150ASL’s reputation for honest, punchy studio-grade dynamics, deep bass control, and low coloration—exactly the sort of speaker that can anchor a long-term system. If it’s genuinely clean, fully working, and comes with good history, it may still appeal to a committed buyer who wants a top-tier active ATC without the uncertainty of a tired example.

Independent perspective — not a price guarantee. Always verify condition, accessories and provenance before purchase.

About ATC

ATC (Acoustic Transducer Company), a British engineering powerhouse, was founded in 1974 by innovative loudspeaker designer Billy Woodman. Initially focused on crafting custom drive units for the professional audio sector, the company quickly gained acclaim with its 12-inch PA75-314 driver, renowned for superior power handling and minimal distortion at high sound pressure levels. In 1976, ATC introduced the groundbreaking SM75-150 soft dome midrange driver, revolutionizing dispersion, bandwidth, and clarity in studio monitors.

The brand specializes in high-precision loudspeakers, designing and manufacturing its own drivers—including tweeters, midrange, and bass units—in-house for both professional and home applications. Its SCM series offers a spectrum from compact models like the SCM7 to larger formats, available in active and passive configurations. ATC also produces standalone electronics, such as preamplifiers, power amplifiers, and integrated amps like the SIA2-150, all built to uncompromising standards of accuracy and reliability.

ATC commands a elite position in the high-end hi-fi market, revered by recording studios worldwide for its transparent, detail-revealing monitors and by discerning audiophiles for domestic speakers that deliver reference-grade performance. A professional ethos, advanced materials, and innovations like the Super Linear Driver—slashing distortion in the vocal range—cement its status as a boutique leader, where precision engineering trumps mass production.
