This is an ambitious ask. Against your recent comps, A$5,000 sits well above the 75th percentile of A$4,640, so it’s not a casual fair-price buy unless there’s a genuinely upgraded plinth, arm, cartridge, or power supply package hiding in the details. On the numbers alone, I’d want more justification than “Linn tax.”
That said, the LP12 remains a classic for good reason: superb upgrade path, great pace and timing, and the ability to scale very high if the setup is right. If this one is complete, carefully set up, and comes with meaningful extras or recent servicing, it can still be worthwhile — but at A$5,000, I’d be checking exactly which armboard, subchassis, bearing, PSU, and cartridge are included before calling it a strong buy.
